Our Location

Gore is on the banks of the famous Mataura River which is known as one of the best brown trout rivers in the world. From our homestay B&B there are great views of fields, the river and hills. A 10 minute walk takes you to town and we are close to bush walks. 

Within 1½ hours you are at the mountains in Queenstown for the skiing or 1 hour south and you will be at the most southern port of Bluff. Stewart Island is only about 1 hour from Bluff.

Kowhai Place is easy to find: if you are coming south we are the last street on the right before you get to the Mataura Rive bridge in Gore. Look for the B&B sign and Huron Street. Just drive up and over the hill and we are on the left just before the first bend in the road. Coming from the south: as above but turn left after the bridge..
